A Letter from the Bride

Some love stories begin in the most unexpected ways, and ours is a beautiful reminder that God is always writing the best stories.

I met my husband through one of the members of my church. One of her friends was looking for someone to do her hair, and she recommended me. As I continued doing her hair, we became friends, and before I knew it, she introduced me to the man who would completely change my life. Her husband and my husband were friends, and what seemed like a simple introduction turned into the greatest blessing I could have ever imagined.

From our very first date, we just clicked. After that, all we wanted to do was spend more and more time together. Even though he lived in Dallas and I lived in Houston, distance never stood a chance. I was always so excited to hop on a flight to Dallas just to spend time with him. Every visit made me fall in love with him even more.

On one of his visits to Houston, I had a birthday dinner, and it was the first time he met my family. Watching him interact with them made my heart so full, and they absolutely loved him. Seeing how naturally he fit in with the people who mean the most to me solidified everything. At that moment, I knew he was the one for my coconut head.

He was everything I had prayed for—a sweet, easygoing, responsible, principled, intentional man, and a God fearing man. He is my personal comedian and naturally funny, and I absolutely love to laugh, so we were a perfect match. No matter the situation, he always knows how to put a smile on my face. He became my safe place, my peace, and my best friend. Although I can be a little spicy , he always knows how to get me together and somehow still loves me through all my shenanigans.

Before I knew it, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and not long after, he asked me to be his wife. On December 18, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. That was the easiest “YES!” I have ever said in my life. To this day, I still don’t know how he managed to keep the proposal a secret. He planned everything so perfectly that I didn’t suspect a single thing… LOL!

Ever since he came into my life, it has truly been blessing after blessing and celebration after celebration. My life has flourished in ways I never imagined possible, and every chapter has been sweeter than the last. I can't lie...this man has me living my best soft girl baby life. Before we knew it, one kid quickly turned into three!  And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way because he truly is the definition of an incredible husband and father.

Today, we are blessed with three beautiful children and a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and so much joy. My husband is my prayer warrior, my greatest encourager, my biggest cheerleader, my best friend, and without question, the greatest husband and father I could have ever asked God for. He loves me wholeheartedly, believes in me even when I doubt myself, and makes every season of life more beautiful simply by being in it. Without a doubt, he is one of God’s greatest blessings in my life.

And that’s our story—a journey filled with God’s grace, endless laughter, countless blessings, and a love that continues to grow every single day. Now don’t get it twisted—we’re already married! This is The Olujinmis Reloaded, baby!

Ashley

Matron of Honor

About Me

Hi, I’m Ashley, a wife, mom of two, and the kind of person who keeps life running (even when it’s a little chaotic). I’ve always been the organized, dependable one, but the people closest to me know I’m also the one who shows up no matter what. Family means everything to me, and I’m grateful for the kind of friendships that feel just as steady and real.

How I Met the Bride

We’ve been best friends since 1st grade, which basically means I don’t remember a time she wasn’t in my life. I can’t tell you exactly how we met, but I do know we’ve been stuck with each other ever since. Through every stage of life, different cities, and everything in between, we’ve stayed solid. No matter how much time passes, we pick right back up like nothing ever changed. She’s truly family to me, and standing beside her on this day means everything… and honestly, she’s had no choice but to keep me as her best friend all these years.

How I Met The Bride

Oh wow, where do I begin? I’ve known Jummy all my life because… surprise, she’s my sister! So unlike most people here, I didn’t really have a choice. Thankfully, she turned out pretty amazing, so it all worked out. We’ve shared a home, countless memories, laughter, secrets, and all the ups and downs that come with being sisters. Growing up, we definitely had our fair share of fights. She used to steal my clothes, or maybe it was me, lol. She always seemed to be in my business, somehow knowing everything that was going on in my life. Safe to say, we both knew exactly how to get under each other’s skin.

But over the years, something changed, and I’m so grateful it did. Jummy and I have grown so much closer, and our relationship has blossomed into something I deeply cherish. She has always been like a second mom to me: caring, protective, dependable, and someone who always gets the job done.

If there’s one person I know I can count on, it’s her. She’s been one of my biggest supporters and has always been there when I needed her most. I truly wouldn’t trade her for the world… well, maybe depending on how much money is involved, just kidding! But in all seriousness, she means so much to me. To me, Jummy is more than just a sister. She’s been a steady source of love, support, and guidance throughout my life, and I’m so grateful to call her my sister.

How I Met The Bride

I met the beautiful bride, JummyBaby (chuckles)  sometime around 2016 in Houston, Texas. We both had a part-time job at same company. Looking back now, it’s amazing how God uses the simplest moments to begin some of the most meaningful friendships. What started as casual conversations during work quickly blossomed into a bond that has stood the test of time.

I pray that her marriage overflows with continuous blessings, true happiness, everlasting peace, favor, deep friendship, and countless beautiful memories.

About Me

My name is Waliat, and I am honored to be one of Jummy's bridesmaids. I am a wife and mother who values family, friendship, and meaningful relationships.

How I Met The Bride

I met Jummy in class. What started as a friendship built on studying together quickly grew into something much deeper. Over the years, Jummy has become more than a friend—she has become a sister.

I don’t think a day goes by without us talking to each other. Jummy is truly a friend indeed. What I love most about our relationship is the honesty, love, care, and support we share. Whenever I need someone to talk to, she is always there to listen and give me her honest opinion. Jummy is not someone who sugarcoats things; she tells you the truth with love, and that is one of the many reasons I cherish our friendship. She is genuine, loyal, and one of the realest people I know.  If we go a few days without talking, it feels like years. That is how much our friendship means to me.

Jummy, you already know I love you and I’ve got you for life. Thank you for being the sister God blessed me with through friendship. Through every season, every laugh, every tear, every challenge, and every milestone, you’ve been there. I am grateful for you every single day, and I can’t wait to celebrate this beautiful journey with you.

As you begin this new chapter, I wish you a lifetime filled with love, happiness, peace, and countless blessings. May your marriage be filled with laughter, understanding, unwavering support, and beautiful memories. You deserve every good thing life has to offer, and I am so excited to celebrate this special moment with you.

How I Met The Bride

Hi, I’m Maolyn Njusi…Jummy and I met in Anatomy & Physiology class at Houston Community College. We instantly connected over our shared dream of becoming nurses and our love for doing hair. From that moment on, our friendship only continued to grow.

We’ve gone through nursing school together, celebrated life’s biggest milestones, and are now both moms, always sharing advice, laughs, and memories. I’m so thankful to have Jummy as one of my closest friends and even more honored to stand by her side on such a special day.

Anyone who knows Jummy knows she’s always dreamed of her wedding day. Watching that dream become a reality is incredibly special, and I couldn’t be happier for her. Wishing Jummy and Kay a lifetime of love, happiness, and beautiful memories together.

How I Met The Bride

Jummy and I grew up in the same neighborhood and have known each other since seventh grade, but our friendship truly blossomed in high school. From our teenage years into adulthood, we’ve shared countless life experiences—traveling together, growing together, and supporting one another through life’s highs and lows.

As we’ve matured, our bond has only deepened. Jummy and her family welcomed me with open arms, and our friendship has grown into something deeply familial and spiritual. She offers a safe, judgment-free space while always keeping it real. She’s been a trusted sounding board during some of the most important decisions in my life, and I value her wisdom immensely.

It is an honor to witness Jummy step into this new chapter of womanhood and motherhood, and to see the love and care she pours into her family. I’m grateful for our lifelong friendship and proud to stand by her side on this beautiful day.

Maryann

Bridesmaid

How I met the Bride

I met Jummy in daycare when we were both little girls attending Children's World. Even back then, she was just as kind and genuine as she is today. She was always sweet, thoughtful, and never one to cause trouble.

As we grew older, we stayed connected through the years. As young adults, we celebrated birthdays together and supported each other through different seasons of life. Then we both became mothers. It’s been amazing to see our lives mirror each other in so many ways—we both welcomed daughters around the same age, then later had sons. She's now on baby number three while I'm on baby number two, so I still have a little catching up to do!

Jummy has been an incredible friend throughout my life. She is someone I trust completely, someone I can confide in, and someone I know will always have my back. Her unwavering support has been such a blessing, and I am truly grateful for her friendship.

She has one of the kindest hearts of anyone I know—a genuine, loyal, and one-of-a-kind soul. I cherish our friendship, and I love her dearly. I look forward to continuing to grow together through every stage of life, creating even more memories in the years to come.

With love,

Maryann
